Playing in Vice
Think about your character before joining a faction
Joining a faction means more than gaining a label. You need a playable reason for your character to connect with that group.
Vice Roleplay · Sources checked:
A faction grows from characters playing together and the ties between them. Read the group’s presentation, concept and current rules first. This article is neither an admission method nor a list of approved factions.
Does the concept suit the character?
Your character’s work, history and habits can provide a reason to meet the group. Having friends there as a player does not give your character those relationships automatically.
For example, a regular customer can begin by meeting a business’s staff. You can develop that relationship without assuming that one day grants everyone’s trust or access to important information.
An introduction does not guarantee acceptance
Participating in a scene does not mean the group must hire or admit you. Allow the other characters to choose. Rejection can become a reason for your character to take another direction.
Check the faction’s latest announcement for how applications are handled. A private request for a password, payment or guaranteed approval should not replace the official process.
Responsibilities begin before membership
IC knowledge, common courtesy and response opportunities still matter within a faction. Illegal groups also have faction, war and CK boundaries; a general introduction cannot replace those rules.
Clarify necessary expectations through an appropriate OOC route, but do not use an agreed player plan as a substitute for the characters meeting and building trust in game. Faction roleplay is an ongoing relationship, not a single application message.
