The Vice City Police Department, the VCPD for short, is the city’s largest faction. As of 7 November 2026 it has 84 members, 69 of whom played this week. Its record dates to 09.11.2019; it is one of the two factions that opened with the city. Its motto is “To Protect and Serve”. Ranks are in English; at the top are Sergeant II, Lieutenant and Captain.
The 4.5 overhaul (October 2026) changed the department from top to bottom. The VCPD moved into its new headquarters and got 15 new technologies: the MDT (in-car computer) for calls and BOLOs, detective files, crime scene work, ballistics, narcotics, autopsy, CCTV, traffic, evidence and statement systems. We explain each of them step by step in the Workshop.
Dealing with the VCPD as a citizen
- To report something, call 911 and choose Police; the call goes to the units on duty.
- Complaints, statements, driving licences and permits are handled at the station.
- On the City Square (e-Vice) you can file a PD report or a petition in your character’s name.
The police and the illegal world
The police have rules too. In a dangerous area such as a faction hood or a ghetto, an officer can only step out of the car with at least two units around; if the area is Hood approved, raids, arrests and searches need at least four units with a supervisor (Sergeant or above). Putting an undercover agent into an illegal faction is something only the department can do, with PD Staff and Faction Management approval.
