Going after other people’s money is part of illegal roleplay in Vice. You cannot take any amount from anyone, though; each of the three routes has its rules.
Mugging
A mugging is taking someone’s money by force. The server has a mugging system, and a mugging happens only where and as much as the system allows.
- Cash only. No clothes, accessories, inventory items or property.
- Factions can mug only on their own hood turf or in areas the system marks as a “Dangerous zone”.
- Someone kidnapped elsewhere cannot be brought to a mugging zone; they are mugged where they are.
- Trying to mug someone with no roleplay is powergaming.
Robbery
- Houses and businesses are robbed through the robbery system; other property only by agreement.
- Places owned by the system or by Valachi cannot be robbed.
- The system runs against the clock, so you do not have to emote while taking items inside; before and after (scouting, fleeing the police, hiding) is roleplayed.
Scams
Tricking another character out of money. Allowed, within limits:
- $25,000 per person at most.
- The victim must be at least level 10.
- No scams with vehicles, houses, businesses or inventory items. Property scams can get your assets wiped or you banned.
- No scams on jobs or fully legal services, so skipping a taxi fare, hospital bill, lawyer’s fee or mechanic’s bill is off the table.
- The deal must be IC; OOC deals do not count.
Running up a debt at a licensed casino and not paying, or breaking an IC contract, counts as scam roleplay as long as it stays within these limits.
