Short answer: not yet. GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. The roleplay servers we all know run on PC, on top of the game, through mods like SA-MP and FiveM. So before anyone can open a GTA 6 RP server, we need a PC version first, and then a way for players to host their own servers. The long answer, and what you can do in the meantime, is below.
What does a roleplay server need?
A roleplay server is not the game's own online mode. Someone builds a separate server on top of the game and sets the rules, the economy, the jobs, the character applications and the admin team. For GTA San Andreas that was SA-MP, released in 2006; for GTA V it is FiveM. Both are mods built on the PC version, and neither has a console equivalent.
The hopeful part: in August 2023 Rockstar brought Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM, in house. So this is no longer a company that pretends roleplay servers do not exist. But nothing like that has been announced for GTA 6, and until it is, everything you read is a guess.
Can you not just roleplay in GTA Online?
You can play cops and robbers with your friends, sure, but that is not a roleplay server. There are no character applications, nobody keeping IC and OOC apart, no rules; a stranger can fly a rocket into the middle of your scene and there is nothing you can do about it. What makes roleplay work is everyone standing inside the same story under the same rules.
So when will GTA 6 RP arrive?
Honest answer: nobody knows. Even the PC version has no date. GTA V reached PC 19 months after consoles, and FiveM-style servers came after that. If Rockstar planned for it this time the gap could be shorter, but for now that is wishful thinking.
One warning: if something claims to be a "GTA 6 RP server" today, there is no GTA 6 in it. It is either a GTA V server or a trap that wants your account. Do not hand your login to anyone.
Roleplay comes from people, not from the game
It is worth saying out loud: a new game does not bring roleplay with it. GTA San Andreas came out in 2004 and people are still roleplaying in it 22 years later. We think the reason is simple; which game it is barely matters, 2004 or 2026. The game is just the thing that brings us together. If it were not SA-MP it would be something in a browser, and if not that, something else.
You can deathmatch anywhere. But if you are still in touch with the person you roleplayed with four years ago, that you cannot find anywhere. Roleplay is giving life to a character you made up; there is no script, and the story, the character and the ending are yours. Graphics do not give you that. The person across from you does.
There is a practical side as well. You do not need a new console or a strong PC; SA-MP runs on an old machine. We have not seen anything else that gives you this much for so little.
Where to roleplay while you wait: Vice City
Vice has been open on SA-MP as Vice City since 3 November 2019. In seven years we have not shut down, wiped or reset; the character you made in 2019, the house you bought and the faction you built are still there. We have passed 50,000 approved users, and in October 2026 the 4.5 update rewrote 114 systems from the ground up.
Joining takes three steps. Register on the site and activate your game account. Send a character application: who your character is, why they came to the city and what they want is enough. Once it is approved, connect to 54.37.194.16:7777 with classic GTA San Andreas and SA-MP.
Cop, doctor, lawyer, reporter, shop owner, mafia, street gang; your pick. You do not need to know everything on day one. Most of the community plays in Turkish, and the guides on this site are in English too.

Vice on GTA V: Los Santos
We have been at it on GTA V for years too. We ran text roleplay on Rage MP and then on FiveM, and moved accounts and assets across without losses when we switched platforms. Our Los Santos city is being built on FiveM now, and we will announce it on Discord and on the site when it opens. The line has always been the same: two cities, one universe.
If GTA 6 gets roleplay, will Vice be there?
We are not giving a date; big talk about things that do not exist yet is not how we work. What we can say is that from the start this was about the Vice universe, not about one game. On our account page there is a third city next to Vice City and Los Santos, Leonida, and it is locked for now. That lock was not put there for decoration.
We will update this page when there is news about a PC version and server support.
Quick answers
| Question | Answer |
| Can you play GTA 6 roleplay on PS5? | Not for now. Roleplay servers run on PC, and there is no way to host your own server on console. |
| Will there be a FiveM for GTA 6? | Nothing announced. FiveM's team has been part of Rockstar since 2023; that is all we know. |
| Will SA-MP die when GTA 6 comes out? | It did not die when GTA V came out; we opened six years after that. |
| Does it cost money to join Vice? | No. Registration, the character application and the game are free; store items are optional. |
| I have never roleplayed. Can I join? | Yes. You start with /me, /do and /b, and the rest comes as you play. The guides have example scenes. |
Dates can change; this page reflects what was announced as of 6 November 2026.
Vice Roleplay is not affiliated with Rockstar Games.
