CCTV and camera roleplay

The city has CCTV, every cop wears a body cam and licensed businesses have cameras. Footage is IC evidence, but it has to be a screenshot or video; chat logs do not count.

Nobody committing a crime in Vice should assume they were not seen. CCTV cameras run all the time at set spots in the city, marked on the map and with objects in game. In some areas CCTV reports gunfire on its own, and no counter-evidence is accepted against that.

Where the cameras are

  • CCTV: at spots marked on the map and in game. No attempts to break them.
  • Police: a body cam on every officer, cameras on the front and back of patrol cars.
  • Businesses: every licensed business is assumed to have cameras, placed where it makes sense.
  • Houses: cameras are added through the house upgrade system.
  • Public and system buildings: cameras are assumed 24/7.

When footage becomes evidence

  • Footage can be used as IC evidence within reason.
  • The proof has to be OOC: screenshots or video. Chat logs or easily edited things like /ssmod are not accepted.
  • If the other side’s camera evidence is weak or misleading, you can prove otherwise with your own.
  • Breaking a camera or wiping footage has to be roleplayed realistically; lazy attempts may be rejected by staff.

If you were flagged for an OOC reason like a misclick, do not stop the scene. Let it finish, then open a request under Support with your proof.
